My professional career as a therapist began over 28 years ago with an Associate Diploma in Health Science (Massage Therapy). Prior to this I was a Technical Officer in Pathology.
My friends and patients used to bring me all different kinds of pets to treat and I was always amazed by how well they have responded to a gentle, listening touch.
My “apprenticeship” covered 20 years in an Osteopathic clinic in Sydney during which time I completed a 5-year Degree and Masters of Osteopathy at the University of Western Sydney. Treating my friends’ pets always gave me great joy and was a welcome relief from all the study.
Osteopathy in the cranial field has always been my passion. I have been lucky enough to have received some amazing mentoring, I have pursued further studies in Osteopathy in the Cranial Field with many Post Graduate Qualifications both in Australia and Overseas.
The Graduate Diploma of Animal Biomechanical Medicine was a gift to myself to be able to integrate something I genuinely love with the delight of communicating with and helping animals.
It was wonderful to see the huge influence of Osteopathy and Osteopathy in the Cranial Field throughout this course. It has been invaluable to be able to work alongside Veterinarians, Chiropractors and other Osteopaths.
The sharing of professional skills is what I consider to be one of the keys to the success of this fantastic course. What also struck me was the talent and dedication within the whole profession. What an amazing tribe of practitioners to be part of!
After moving to Queensland, I have set up Bribie Animal Osteopathy. After many years of treating humans, I am looking forward to seeing more of my furry/scaly/feathered friends and their lovely owners.
